Representatives of AFS Intercultural Programs rang the Opening Bell at the Nasdaq Exchange in New York City. This was a great opportunity to take a stand for intercultural exchanges and showcase the AFS brand (with our logo brightly displayed over Times Square in New York City!).
In his remarks at the event, President and CEO of AFS Daniel Obst highlighted the AFS mission to create a more just and peaceful world. He said:
“In today’s world — which faces so many challenges and, yet, is so divided — we need more dialogue and exchange. We need to provide more people with the knowledge, skills and values to build bridges and to create a more just and peaceful world. And that’s what AFS has been doing for more than 100 years. International education and intercultural exchange are the best investments we can make in our shared future. All of us play a role in this:
- Business leaders and governments who provide essential funding and opportunity
- Families and communities who open up their homes and schools to foreign exchange students
- All the young people, whose passion and commitment to create positive change in the world is both inspiring and urgent.”
